Pneumonia

Pneumonia

Well Daniel has pneumonia at the moment on Monday he was very lethargic. He has the bacterial pneumonia which is a very fast acting pneumonia.
He is doing to much better now.
He was up late last night playing in his pram instead of sleeping.
He wanted to sleep in his pram so last night he spent the night in our room sleeping in his pram... Anything for some peace so that I can sleep. He woke up just before 10 am this morning...

It is so special that Daddy took some time off work to look after our little darling.

I enjoyed being at home on Tuesday. Daniel slept alot but we did manage to play with cars and build some puzzles.

Yesterday when i came home he was sleeping.
We drew some pictures and started making a fathers day gift... Wont go into any details yet as that may ruin the surprise...

Some ifo I found on the internet.

Pneumonia is an infection of one or both lungs which is usually caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi. Prior to the discovery of antibiotics, one-third of all people who developed pneumonia subsequently died from the infection. Currently, over 3 million people develop pneumonia each year in the United States. Over a half a million of these people are admitted to a hospital for treatment. Although most of these people recover, approximately 5% will die from pneumonia. Pneumonia is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States.
How do people "catch pneumonia"?
Some cases of pneumonia are contracted by breathing in small droplets that contain the organisms that can cause pneumonia. These droplets get into the air when a person infected with these germs coughs or sneezes. In other cases, pneumonia is caused when bacteria or viruses that are normally present in the mouth, throat, or nose inadvertently enter the lung. During sleep, it is quite common for people to aspirate secretions from the mouth, throat, or nose. Normally, the body's reflex response (coughing back up the secretions) and immune system will prevent the aspirated organisms from causing pneumonia. However, if a person is in a weakened condition from another illness, a severe pneumonia can develop. People with recent viral infections, lung disease, heart disease, and swallowing problems, as well as alcoholics, drug users, and those who have suffered a stroke or seizure are at higher risk for developing pneumonia than the general population.
Once organisms enter the lungs, they usually settle in the air sacs of the lung where they rapidly grow in number. This area of the lung then becomes filled with fluid and pus as the body attempts to fight off the infection.
What are pneumonia symptoms and signs?
Most people who develop pneumonia initially have symptoms of a cold which are then followed by a high fever (sometimes as high as 104 degrees Fahrenheit), shaking chills, and a cough with sputum production. The sputum is usually discolored and sometimes bloody. People with pneumonia may become short of breath. The only pain fibers in the lung are on the surface of the lung, in the area known as the pleura. Chest pain may develop if the outer pleural aspects of the lung are involved. This pain is usually sharp and worsens when taking a deep breath, known as pleuritic pain.
In other cases of pneumonia, there can be a slow onset of symptoms. A worsening cough, headaches, and muscle aches may be the only symptoms. In some people with pneumonia, coughing is not a major symptom because the infection is located in areas of the lung away from the larger airways. At times, the individual's skin color may change and become dusky or purplish (a condition known as "cyanosis") due to their blood being poorly oxygenated.
Children and babies who develop pneumonia often do not have any specific signs of a chest infection but develop a fever, appear quite ill, and can become lethargic. Elderly people may also have few symptoms with pneumonia.

Jordan 2 Years with Cancer

I recieved this mail by email and was just moved bt it and how his parents must be feeling. Daniel has pneumonia at the moment and I am worrying about it going further!!!

ALL THIS MAIL IS ASKING YOU YOU TO DO IS TO PRAY FOR THIS BOY'S LIFE.

Jordan (two years old) has been at Red Cross Hospital in Cape Town for the past 5 weeks struggling with cancer. The latest news from the hospital is that in the last 12 hours his body has weakened to the point that the side effect of the drug that they were considering using may do more harm than good.

At the moment everything is on hold and they are just holding there breath and praying. They saw what seemed like a glimmer of hope in the form of a miracle drug and now those hopes have been das hed but as the doctor says, this is how it goes and we cannot give up hope.

Please continue to pray for him and thank you to all of you who have been so willing to help, help which they still need depending on what happens in the next few hours and days. So for now as frustrating as it may be there is nothing else to be done but wait for all the medicine he is receiving to start working and pray for a miracle, a gift only God can give to him.

Jordan at the moment has 22 tubes going into his body, a machine draining fluid from his lungs, a ventilator to breathe for him , another machine to do the job of his kidneys as they are unable to get rid of the toxins. A tube to feed him, and a whole lot more to administer morphine for the pain, valium to keep him sedated and a whole lot of other antibiotics to fight infection and repair the holes in his lungs caused by the pneumonia. In the last few hours his condition changed a number of times, one minute giving some hope then the next looking hopeless. As you can imagine this is more than any parent can bear and I urge you to keep Craig and Karen in your prayers for strength, the doctors for wisdom and God for healing and mercy.

Bible Study

Bible Study
13 May 2009

Last night I went to my first Bible study in a long time. I really enjoyed it and there was no pressure placed on me which was great.
I really enjoyed it and am now motivated to get stuck into it.

We are busy looking at the book of Isaiah and they are quite far into the book already but ii is going to be great studying and being motivated by home work ect.

I am also going to try and do Tokai Community Church's study on a Sunday night with Colin one day of the week.

I am excited about getting back on track.

Week end,Mothers Day

Week End and Mothers Day.

We had planned to go to St James food fair but with all the preperations for Mothers Day ended up staying at home in stead.
Well we aslo planned to do the GWC fun run more like walk but we were not ready in time and off course the master of the house likes to go to bed late and then also to sleep late so we missed that one to.
I prepared all the food for Sunday so that I could enjoy Mothers day to.

Sunday was church as usual and then we raced home to re - heat all the food and do a Malva pudding. I put Daniel to sleep and as per usual he fought it untill I held him and said he had no choice so unfortunately he missed most of the lunch at the table. Bonus Mom got to eat in peace.
He had some chicken and off course did not say no to some custard.

he loved playing with his cousin's they played with cars and then outside in the sand pitt.

We got our house back to normality and then rushed to see the Botha's (Colin's sisters)plot. It is going to be one huge house... Our dream is to have a nice big house one day too... All in good time for now we are grateful to be able to own our own house and also for food, clothing and everything God has provided for us.
We then went to tokai Community Church for the evening service. Daniel had so much fun that he did not want to come home. Needless to say he had a late night.
