Aimee's Thirtheenth Birthday!

I came rushed to get myself and Daniel ready for the party. We manged to leave the house at about 6:00pm. We were the last one to arrive but hey the party was right in the middle of our routine.

Daniel road on his scooter and had fun with the older kids.

We left at about 8:00pm to get Daniel to bed and settled but the poor kid was so excited,it was quite a battle. I had some chores around the house to do and then off to dudu byes for me.....

At the end of a week end

Well at the end of a week end with Mommy and Daddy,Daniel always fights his sleep on a Sunday night. Wow last night was no different, We did the usual Bath,Story time cuddles and then off to bed but boy does he try and resist we actually have to zip the cot up and then close the door and let him cry till he falls asleep. Which does not normally take that long.
Monday morning's are bad in our house as we all have that Monday Blues feeling.... Daniel refuses to eat and cries more than usual.
So I do Not enjoy Monday's

Discipline

We are trying to establish a good discipline routine at the moment but it is not easy as we are not the only influence in his life. His grandparents play a huge role as he is with them from 7:00am till 17:30pm. So it is really tough establishing those boundaries but I think we are getting there.

We have found that distraction works wonders as he forgets about the naughty thing he was doing and depending on what he has done wrong we do give hidings and also the occasional few minutes in the cot with the door closed that has also done the trick as he does not enjoy being separated from us.

But Hey we are still new to this whole parenting thing so we would love to hear your comments on the disciplin issue.

Week End Fun



On Friday after picking Daniel up from his grandparents we went to do the shopping... Got Daniel fed,bathed and into bed and we all had an early night.

Saturday morning was up early went to the bank for a statement and then off to the shop. I then had to make a potato bake for the braai at Rod's place. We drove out to Durbanville and as we drove on the free-way Daniel unstrapped himself so we had to try and get him back into his seat and happy. Got there enjoyed the braai with friends.

Crime

On Monday when Daniel was at Blue Route Ackermans with his grandparents there was a group of about 4 males who walked in with a screwdriver and broke the cabinet with all the cellphones threw it into a bag and made off in a get a way vehicle.I am just so thankful that nobody was injured in that case. Praise be to God.



Today at about 1:30 we had cop vans pull up at the work place next door. In total there must have been about 5 vans. He put on his bullet proof vest and took a shot gun and there were more than one it was quite scary as one never does know when something will go wrong.The cops left at about 4:00 pm so the situation seems to be under control. I hope nobody was injured. The owner of the company did not pay his staff and things got ugly.

Death

My Mom had a mild heart attack without knowing it and then was not feeling great so went to the Doctor whom then informed her and booked her into hospital for observations. When we went to visit my mom she told us to say good bye as it would be the last time we would be able to talk to her.
I did not think to much about it,at that age the last thing I wanted to grasp was that my mommy was not coming home.
The next morning while getting ready for school. The Doctor phoned and told us to come to the hospital right away. When we got there it was to late. My Mom was gone and she knew it was going to happen.
I had a lot of Questions about what happened like why my mommy and what did I do wrong and all sorts of questions as what could we have done differently.
In some ways I think I even blamed my Dad as why he did not do something.

My Dad took the news Badly and I tried to block it out and I did a good job of it until my one cousin and his girlfriend (now Wife) came over we spent a lot of time with them. I remember them telling me to stop and they hugged me and that's when I burst into tears.

The funeral was a hard thing for me to deal with But I got through it.I remember them telling me to touch my mom and I did not want to. I did in the end. But I think I would rather not have done that, and just remembered my mom the way she was and not her cold body lying there.

This has been one of the most difficult experiences I have had.

We had a good week end spent as a family and with freinds. On Friday we did our grocery shopping and then I made Pitza's and we got Daniel off to bed. On Saturday we spent a bit of time around the house and Daniel was listening to his cd from the my first CD and he loved listening to head,shoulders knees and toes and he came through to find us with a box infront of his face Dancing saying Ah Ah Ah to the music It was to cute.We went to buy our Niece a present and then I had to make a potatoe bake for our evening in the northern Subourds with freinds. It was really great catching up with everybody.



Sunday we went to Church and then went up to Senders to Chat to some freinds. On a sadder note we went to the hospital on Sunday evening to see Lesley in hospital.

We got home a little bit on the late side and Daniel did not want to go to bed as ususal.

All the chores were done and I could relax.

We eat all the usual mostly quick meals but Daniel has now become quite fussy. Does not want to eat vegetable's. Mainly lives off fish Fingers.... Well after a days work mum makes supper and if Daniel does not want it he either has no Supper because he is fussy or I will give him fish fingers as I know he will eat that.

Well our week so far is going better. No Irritations HIP HIP HO REY besides Daniel who does not want to eat breakfast.... What a battle we have had with him.I hope it is only his teeth that are bothering him.
I am trying to be on time to leave the house at 7:00 which means up at 5:30 and something always seems to happen to make us leave later...... Must be more disciplined with all the chores the night before.

Anyway soon we will have a holiday and hopefully start the year being on time.....

The thirteen tooth has made an appearance.Shew we are almost over the tooth thing.

Week end Fun

Well on Friday I had a really bad day at work, stressing about paying a special levy which was supposed to come out of our bond as we thought we had a flexi bond turns out we don't.To top it all off my cleaner did not pitch so I had to go home and clean the house.
Saturday while I was ironing Colin(My Husband) asked me for the papers I faxed off and I said to him just look.and we had a huge fight.... so we did not do anything for the rest of the day. Sunday I stayed at home and Colin took Daniel to church we then went to the church Braai and had a great time. We also went to see the baboons down the road. We then went to De Oog to show Daniel the ducks.
Came home and did the usual Sunday chores.
Daniel can now say Car and Duck....

Daniel's Time for Bed

Oh he is so adorable now. We read and say our prayers and then Daniel wants to be held for a little while before he will climb into his cot and go off to sleep.

I held him last night for a little while and then told him he would have to go and sleep in his cot. So he got off my lap and off he went to his room and the poor little thing was so tired he fell but was ok and climbed into his cot.We tucked him in and off he went to sleep.

Such a little Darling. No longer a baby.

Wow Daniel is now 19 months and is able to do so much by himself.He is such a loving child.Praise be to God for lending us such a wonderful little boy, well not so little anymore.
